Paper

Handmade from recycled paper, cotton, or abaca the paper vats are filled with plant material along side the pulp. The sheets of paper once pulled are pressed to dry with the plant material giving each batch its own unique color and texture. Poke berries, lily leaves, goldenrod, purple cabbage and a number of other natural materials are consciously gathered and added to the gradient. Each season has something different to offer with the windows of certain blossoms so short they are easy to miss.

A Note from the Artist

My gardening and farming experience influence my creative work in a big way. Iā€™m drawn to the beauty of plants as they grow and change and am truly fascinated by the way the seasons are marked by the stages of plant growth, different flowers, and the decay of most of it at the end. We as a society have become largely detached from these cycles and we expect to be able to purchase any flower or vegetable we wish no mater the season. To live within the cycles of the growing season is to be more connected with the earth and its natural rhythms.
